Today we started our unit on rocks and how they are different that the minerals we studied two weeks ago! We watched a video, took notes, and had a short quiz to see what we had learned. This will get us ready for tomorrow when we take a closer look at the Igneous family!

Today we looked closely at Igneous Rocks. Some of us did a fantastic job with our scientific drawings and we had to classify each of our 6 samples as Intrusive or Extrusive, Felsic or Mafic, Fine-Grained or Course-Grained.
The PowerPoint we are using to take notes before we look at our samples is here -

Today we opened our new Edmodo accounts! We also started our unit on Minerals. We explored a website to learn what tests geologists perform on minerals to determine their identities! We are preparing for our mineral lab on Wednesday when we will conduct many of these same tests.
